As artists we are always developing. I started this site some years ago to monitor my progress at art classes. Some areas have improved faster than others and I expect this to continue to be an interesting journey. Constructive comments are always welcome. Steve.

Loch Etive and the Isle of Mull

Painted in acrylic on the shore of Loch Etive at our evening class yesterday. Looking east to the hills on the isle of Mull. The weather had turned cooler after a prolonged dry spell and beams of sunlight sneaked through the dark clouds out over the Atlantic.
Acrylic 16"x 12". Predominantly knife work with some brushwork to finish off.

The beginning of a new term for our art class. On Tralee beach at Benderloch.

This is my acrylic painting loosely based on the scene.

The art class looking west over the bay.

After the sun went down I used flash to illuminate my work.

The large (A2) Pencil / Charcoal/ Ink portrait for the final part of my current OCA project.

Wednesday, March 04, 2009

Today's piece is a collage. Its called "Paper pseudo-woodland" 'cos I couldn't think of anything more descriptive for a newspaper and magazine-page collage. The aim was to do a "normal" woodland scene but I included some partially hidden images so that there's a red train in there, which could be crossing a wooded gorge, and a few travel adverts.

Taynuilt Jetty

Taynuilt jetty on Loch Etive. Pastel.

"Tom" a pastel study of a climber and his dog.
